ioCache VM Edition: 600GB of Purpose-Built Virtualization Cache
Purpose-built Performance to Virtualize Data-intensive Applications
The ioCache VM Edition bundle unleashes virtualization’s potential with a powerful, easy-to-manage, drop-in performance solution. The bundle combines ioCache hardware—which is specifically designed as a virtualization cache—with ioTurbine virtualization caching software to target performance to workloads with high data demand that require acceleration.
-
Unparalleled Low Latency Performance to Virtualize Data-Intensive Applications
Uses ioDrive capacity as a cache to satisfy I/O for virtualized applications in the server, eliminating the latency associated with traversing the network to expensive NAS or SAN solutions. Target performance on a per VM basis, or per file, volume or disk, ensuring that performance is consistently delivered to virtualized applications that need it.

-
Supports vMotion to Preserve IT Infrastructure Agility
With ioCache there is no trade-off between performance and flexibility in your VMware environment. ioCache supports vMotion so you can move VMs at will. The ioTurbine software dynamically allocates the cache as VMs come and go distributing the cache’s benefits to all VMs. For workloads that require service level commitments, any portion of the cache can be reserved for a specific VM to guarantee performance (and distributing the remaining cache among VMs), regardless of VMs being vMotioned from host to host.
-
Transparent Operation with Existing Infrastructure
The ioTurbine caching software runs in the background as a component in the hypervisor and in the guest operating system. ioCache VM Edition functions transparently with VMware and virtualized applications by tightly coupling with the file system I/O routines in the guest OS, I/O patterns are transparently redirected so flash storage is shared across all hosted VMs. No configuration changes are needed in the guest OS, host, storage or networking equipment.
-
Increase VM Density to Further Consolidate Servers
Satisfying IOPS from ioCache enables more VMs per server, enhancing virtualization’s consolidation and
ROI benefits.
-
Reduce Spindle Count and Increase Performance and Efficiency of Storage Assets
Satisfying I/O from ioCache offloads the performance burden from primary storage. With the majority of active read I/O being satisfied from ioCache, primary storage is free to process mostly write I/O. And because ioCache is better suited for satisfying performance requirements in virtualized environments, disk can be utilized for capacity rather than performance.
