Fusion-io Achieves VMware Ready Status
Posted: 01/10/2012
Fusion-io is very proud to report that our ioDrives have achieved VMware Ready™ status. This designation indicates that Fusion-io technologies have passed a detailed evaluation and testing process managed by VMware and are now listed on the VMware Partner Product Catalog. Passing the extensive VMware-specified testing helps ensure that solutions from Fusion-io make optimal use of VMware technology and are ready for deployment in customer environments.
Fusion’s ioDrive technology moves terabytes of process-critical data into servers, close to application processors. This minimizes latency and maximizes performance to increase the value provided to end-users, while lowering infrastructure capital and operating costs.
Fusion’s Virtual Storage Layer (VSL) software powers our ioDrives. VSL allows file systems, volume managers, and applications to access flash through a common block interface, rather than through legacy disk storage protocols that increase latency. Similar to page tables in the host virtual memory subsystem, the VSL virtualizes flash via "block tables” and translates block requests to physical addresses, also analogous to the virtual memory subsystem.
Through the unique combination of hardware and software, Fusion-io technology delivers a low-latency, high-performance solution for VMware that offers enterprise-class speed, capacity and reliability, while reducing capital and operational expenditures for virtualized environments.
The VMware Ready program is a VMware co-branding program for qualified partner products and is a benefit of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. With more than 2,000 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program works with innovative technology partners to provide them a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers.
Fusion-io technologies can be found within the online VMware Hardware Compatibility List.
